John Mears
Development Principal
John serves as the Market Leader in Florida in addition to leading select, strategic mixed-use projects in Dallas, TX and Atlanta, GA. John has been active in the development of both luxury multifamily communities (apartments and condominiums) and high-end single-family residences in Atlanta and throughout the Southeast for over 25 years. For 11 of those years he served as Executive Vice President of Post Properties, where he managed the development of over 12,000 residential units in several major East Coast markets with a total cost of over $1 billion.
Prior to his tenure with Post, John worked in New York City for 6 years in the real estate investment banking groups at Duetsche Bank (formerly Bankers Trust Company) and Merrill Lynch, where he was responsible for underwriting loans, direct equity investments, and the structuring of IPO and secondary offerings for a variety of well-known public and private real estate organizations.
John’s more recent projects include two significant condominium developments; Seventh Midtown and The Charles Buckhead, both located in Atlanta, GA. The Charles, a $110 million mixed-use project which completed in 2020, included 57 luxury condominiums priced from $1.7 million to over $4 million, and 28,000 SF of ground-level retail located on Peachtree Street.
