Joe SeverinSenior Vice President

Joe Severin joined Carter in 2022 and serves as senior vice president. In this role, Joe oversees design and construction and civil engineering aspects of Carter’s mixed-use and multifamily projects in the Southeast.

Before joining Carter, Severin served as President of Long Engineering, an Atlanta-based engineering firm. Joe’s background in civil site design gives him a unique perspective to capitalize on the opportunities and avoid any pitfalls of prospective sites. At Carter, Joe provides his site experience to the team and is involved in all phases of the development process; beginning with site analysis and working through construction to project closeout. Joe has worked on project sites throughout the Southeast, with notable projects including the Engineered Biosystems Building at Georgia Tech, a LEED platinum project with a creative water feature supplied by groundwater as well as Sustainable Fellwood in Savannah, Georgia, an affordable housing development that achieved LEED silver for the pilot neighborhoods program.

Joe graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, and he and his wife Emily live in Smyrna, Georgia, with their two daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, traveling, and spending time with family.
