YMCA Leadership & Learning Center

Atlanta, GA

Carter served as project manager for the YMCA Leadership & Learning Center that serves as the headquarters for the Metro Atlanta YMCA.

Located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Vine City on Atlanta’s Westside, the 54,500-square-foot project is the headquarters for the Metro Atlanta YMCA. There are three building components to the project: office space for YMCA headquarters, a state-of-the-art model Early Learning Center for approximately 80 children and a Training Center for local and regional YMCA staff and leadership. The Training Center provides facility access to members of the surrounding communities and non-profits for meetings and events.

The design for the center incorporates recommendations from the Vine City civic Association, NPU-L, and the Westside TAD Advisory Board. The Early Learning Center outdoor play space incorporates the preserved gym structure from Jordan Hall which sat on this site prior to the construction of the Leadership & Learning Center. The project received a $2.5 million TAD Grant and approximately $6.8 million in new market tax credit funding.

Construction was completed in the spring of 2019.
