YMCA Leadership & Learning Center
The YMCA Leadership & Learning Center broke ground Thursday, December 7 in Atlanta.
Mayor Kasim Reed, City Councilman Ivory Young, Eloisa Klementich of Invest Atlanta, and many more who have played a role in bringing this project to life were on hand to help commemorate the moment. Carter is serving as project manager for the YMCA Leadership and Learning Center that will serve as the headquarters for the Metro Atlanta YMCA.
Located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Vine City on Atlanta’s Westside, the 54,500 sf project includes a state-of-the-art model Early Learning Center. The center will include a regional program training center serving more than 1,500 Y staff from through the southeast annually. The training center will also provide facility access to members of the surrounding communities and non-profits for meetings and events.
The design for the center incorporates recommendations from the Vine City civic Association, NPU-L, and the Westside TAD Advisory Board. The early learning center outdoor play space incorporates the preserved gym structure from Jordan Hall which sat on this site prior to the construction of the Leadership & Learning Center. The project received a $2.5 million TAD Grant and approximately $6.8 million in new market tax credit funding.
Construction began late December 2017 and is scheduled to be completed early 2019.
