University of West Georgia Athletic Complex
The University of West Georgia, in a competitive process, selected Carter to manage the design, construction and delivery of a 9,000-seat football stadium and athletic complex. In addition to the football stadium, the new $29 million complex includes a soccer field, two football practice fields, soccer practice field, softball field and field house and a 40,000 square feet athletic office building that will house classrooms, training facilities and locker rooms. Extensive roadway and utility infrastructure work was also completed as part of the project.
The athletic complex will be the epicenter for West Georgia’s intercollegiate athletic activities. The 200-acre green site adjacent to the main campus across the Little Tallapoosa River, the complex is being developed on an initial 160 acres. This additional acreage will allow for future athletic facility expansions.
Carter also coordinated the accounting of multiple project financing sources including taxable and non-taxable bonds, Foundation funding, SPLOST funding and student fees.
Construction of the football stadium began in September of 2008 and was completed in August 2009, in time for the first home football game of the season.
