UGA Sanford Hall
With the design and construction of Sanford Hall already $5 million over budget at 95 percent completion of design, UGA contracted with Carter to manage the redesign and construction process. Using a fast-track approach to work with the architect, Carter directed the redesign of the building to meet the university’s original schedule and budget criteria. The building houses numerous high-tech classrooms, seminar rooms and large lecture halls. The project was completed in the summer of 1997 and move-in occurred prior to the beginning of fall classes. Carter also managed the design, coordination, purchase and installation of interior furnishings, and the latest data and audio visual technology for the $7 million facility. Each seat in the building was equipped with data and electric outlets, allowing students to access the Internet.
