Lovett School Athletic Center
Carter was selected by The Lovett School to manage the design and construction process for its proposed new athletic center. This included renovating Hite Wellness Center, replacing existing buildings at Kilpatrick Stadium and constructing a new athletics center. The 40,000 square-foot facility is located strategically between the football stadium and lacrosse/soccer stadium.
The three-story fieldhouse features a multi-purpose gymnasium on the top floor, which supports some of the school’s athletic teams like wrestling, volleyball and cheerleading. It also functions as an area for physical education classes, and provides a space for campus sports banquets. The second level houses an 8,000-square-foot fitness center with weight- and strength-training venues and indoor sprint lanes. On the first floor are locker facilities for both home and visiting teams, along with storage for athletic equipment. Two meeting rooms in the facility are outfitted with comprehensive audio-visual systems. An outdoor plaza, adjacent to the athletic center, provides gathering space for fans near the ticketing and concessions wing.
The project also encompassed the replacement of outmoded football stadium support buildings. This included a new press box, enhanced concessions, ticketing and public restrooms. The Lovett School’s sports medicine space underwent substantial renovation and was the last phase of this multi-component project.
The three projects were completed in 2015.
