The Banks
Cincinnati, OH
Carter serving as master developer and program manager of The Banks on the Ohio River
Carter, together with Harold A. Dawson Company, was selected as master developer of what is considered to be the focal point of Greater Cincinnati. The mixed-use development on the Ohio river, ideally situated between Paul Brown Stadium to the west, and the National Underground Freedom Center and Great American Ball Park to the east, will ultimately include 1,800 units totaling 3 million square feet of residential space, 400 hotel rooms, 1 million square feet of office space and over 400,000 square feet of retail. The build-out of The Banks will occur in multiple phases, the first phase consisted of $82 million in private development set atop a $157 million below-ground parking structure. Another 300 apartment units and 60,000 - 80,000 square feet of retail is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2013. A 230,000 square foot, Class A office tower, 180 Walnut, is currently pre-leasing office space in the market.
The Banks development is the first of its kind in Cincinnati and is benefitting locals and visitors alike. In addition to creating a notable business district and vibrant entertainment area, The Banks proves to serve as a catalyst for economic growth and will continue to revitalize Cincinnati. The city opened a new state-of-the-art police department welcome center at The Banks and approximately $400 million in public infrastructure improvements have already been completed, including an Intermodal Transit Facility. Them Banks has already attracted a good mixture of tenants including dining options ranging from Johnny Rockets to Ruth Chris Steakhouse and two live music venues. It is estimated that $600 million in investments will be generated by The Banks to the local economy annually.
