Lovett Athletic Facilities
The Lovett School has entrusted Carter with the design and construction management of more than 460,000 square feet of new buildings on campus. Carter has also served as program manager for numerous athletic venues on the school’s campus. Carter guided the design team in the preparation of an Athletics Master Plan, which is being implemented in phases, along with the new buildings on campus.
Carter also managed the development of a new baseball and softball complex. The new facility includes a 12,000 square foot fieldhouse with indoor batting cages, locker rooms, coach’s offices, restrooms and concessions space.
In addition, Carter managed the development of a synthetic turf and two new natural turf practice fields for use by football, soccer and lacrosse teams, as well as for physical education. The fields were designed and engineered to support intensive use. Special storm drainage, field under-drains, and soil mixes were installed to allow the fields to dry rapidly after rain. The systems have allowed Lovett to gain extended hours of use from the fields.
Carter coordinated the development of three gymnasiums on campus, including the main performance gym and two competition gyms. The gyms were designed to accommodate multiple sports events and to be used as venues for school gatherings. Bleacher configurations, and audio-visual and lighting systems were designed with the multi-use objectives in mind.
