Atlanta Business Chronicle | Construction to start on Georgia State's $85M Convocation Center

Georgia State University plans to start construction on its new Convocation Center next week and the multi-purpose facility is expected to be completed by August 2022, according to GSU.

The $85 million project will be built at the intersection of Fulton Street and Capital Avenue, north of Center Parc Stadium (formerly known as Turner Field).

GSU announced on Wednesday that president Mark Becker will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m. on Nov. 17 at 455 Capital Avenue to celebrate the start of the project.

Atlanta-based construction firm Brasfield & Gorrie will manage construction of the Convocation Center, which will be an upgrade from the GSU Sports Arena. The center is designed by Atlanta-based firm SLAM/Heery/Perkins & Will and managed by independent consultant Gleeds.
